The work schedule of a certified nursing assistant starts with providing the daily duties of the patients such as toileting, brushing teeth, changing their dresses, and providing the medicines as prescribed by the doctor.
After which you need to provide breakfast to the patients and feed them as well. These activities may take around 2-3 hours.
Once these activities are over, you can quickly have your breakfast and then you have to order for lunch as prescribed by the dietitian. Meanwhile, you can clean the room in order to maintain proper hygiene.
It is recommended to check the patient’s condition and vital signs such as body temperature, blood pressure, and pulse rate, as you need to maintain these records from time to time
Next step would be to get lunch for the patient and place them in a tray along with a glass of water. For bed-ridden or elderly patients, you require to feed them as well
Once the lunch is over, provide them the required medicines and let them take a nap in the afternoon
Meanwhile, you can also take some rest, but be careful and watch the condition of the patient from time to time. When the patients get up, provide them with evening snacks as prescribed by the doctor and again check the vital signs and note down the records in the health chart.
Then, order for the dinner as per the day's diet schedule and provide it to the patients. Again give the required medicines and drugs as mentioned in the prescription.
When the CNA working for night shift arrives, then handle over the charge with the daily observation chart and the other details to them
