Nursing and health care is one of the emerging sectors in the country. The nursing aides are required by all the medical organizations in the state such as hospitals, rehabilitation centers, old age homes, private nursing homes and long term care facilities. If you want to apply for the position of a nursing aide, then it is mandatory that you should enroll for CNA certification from any of the institute that offer this course. Prerequisites for CNA Certification
You should be at least 18 years of age or more. In some states, the age limit is 16 years
You should also possess a high school diploma or any equivalent degree such as GED (general educational development)
There will be a background verification to check that you are not involved in any criminal activities and there has never been any crime recorded against your name
After possessing these prerequisite skills, you will have to obtain the form from the institute in which you want to enroll. Fill in all the details of the form and submit it to the authorized person along with the required document and the fees. The fees of the certification program is between USD 400 to USD 1000 or sometimes more, depending on the state policy. . When all these formalities are over, then you will have to appear for the entrance test as per the schedule set by the institute.
Structure of the Entrance Test Exam
The entrance test is divided into 6 sections:
Problem solving techniques
The first two sections are compulsory and you have to score 50% in each section in order to qualify for the exam.
Reading comprehension includes reading articles and answering the following questions related to Section I. You will be given 30 questions and you have to solve those questions in 30 minutes
The mathematical section comprises of algebra, problems on arithmetic such as whole numbers, decimals and so on. There will be 60 problems which you have to solve in 60 minutes.
This is the pattern which is followed in every state, but the number of questions may differ from one state to another. For example, if you have to know about the admission procedure for nursing in Massachusetts, then you have to gather the information from the nurse aide registry of Massachusetts. After obtaining the certification, you will also have to obtain the CNA license in order to apply for a job in different medical organizations in the country.
